Sleep Apnea and the
Power of Tea
While this may not be helpful in terms of sleep apnea, here is some information that can help you get a
better night's sleep.
Believe it or not, drinking a nice warm glass of tea before bedtime can be one of the best things you can
do to help ensure natural, restful sleep.
There are five kinds of teas in particular that have been found to promote sleepiness.
Natural sleep aids, including herbal teas, have been around for hundreds of years because they
often work. They are not miracle cures and may, in fact, require
several weeks before they make a noticeable difference. If
you decide to take the herbal alternative, be sure to talk with your physician to make sure that this is
best for you.
Sleepy Time tea
Good for all ages.
Chamomile tea
Drink a cup just before bedtime. If you need it sweetened,
use a teaspoon of honey. Do not take chamomile tea if you suffer
from allergies.
Valerian tea
Pour boiling water over 2 teaspoons of valerian root, infused for 15 minutes, and drink it just before bedtime.
This tea is not the best tasting in the world but is highly recommended for calming nerves
and promoting sleep.
Hops tea
Add 1 ounce of hops to 1 pint of boiling water. Drink this
tea three times a day.
Catnip tea
This mint-tasting, common garden plant can help promote natural, restful sleep.
Just add a 1 teaspoon of dried catnip to 1 cup boiling water, infuse, strain and drink just
before bedtime.
